Home Away Home

I received my first confinement here in the Police College. During the hostel inspection conducted by CDMI in the morning on Friday, our rooms were found substandard. We were required to undertake remedial training in the campus. Although this is not the first time I am away from my family, my feeling of homesickness grows stronger since I got to the College……

There are moments when I question what I’m doing. I wonder if the cure for my part-time loneliness is an extended visit with family or a shrug of the shoulders. When I’m alone and in my own world, sometimes I wish there was someone who truly understood me. Someone I could share my deepest thoughts with.

But since the solo camp, I figure out that my ‘alone time’, sometimes is a wonderful thing. I enjoy standing back and disappearing from the world for a time. It’s a fulfilling break from everyday life. There’s a lot of time to reflect on one’s life.

What I know at this point in my life is that I’m on a journey. Being lonely and missing my family is part of the process. They’re both only temporary feelings. I can’t turn away from my mission, which is to learn, grow and prosper. I am never satisfied with myself. I have to continue striving, succeeding, dreaming and experiencing. My journey isn’t fulfilled until I’m satisfied with my progress.

At this point, I clearly notice that I really love my family. And while I am away, I am glad that I am surrounded with a group of guys who share laughers and tears with me.

When Superman becomes Tarzan

Long time no see......I've changed my job and it's been 4 weeks now....

I had OPDAT (Outdoor Personal Development Adventure Training) for the last whole week and that's really an unforgettable one!!! I can say that I am proud to be a member of 511.

We began the week with two days of leadership and team building workshops in the campus. We did some climbing, hiking, and “flying”.

We built up bonds and spirit among our team through different games.

Then we started out outwork bound trip. I’ve been through so many things this week, but Wednesday night did make an impact on me. We were assigned for a SOLO CAMP…which was really a big challenge for me.

Do you know what it’s like to feel in the dark? Be honest, I am a LITTLE bit afraid of darkness. I was assigned to stay in the wood with only a sleeping bag, a sheet of mattress and a bottle of water. I didn’t sleep very well; I stayed alert for the whole night. Many things went through my mind that night, I thought about my past, my present situation and my future. I think about my life and dream about my future. Even though it seems like it’s far away, I think I have to believe in myself and it’s the only way. I try to identify myself; and reveal what my real strengths and my weaknesses are.

Like Superman, he may be a man in a funny red sheet and a pretty face next to a train, but even a hero has the right to bleed. Everyone has his own weaknesses, but it’s important to identify them and make improvement. In the past, I did make lots of mistakes and luckily they were not fatal. I am now a police officer and eventually will become a commander; all the instructions I make will become crucial, there are still lots to learn, hopefully I can beat the odds and become a real hero!!!

First time ever~~

Having met for nearly over11 years, Derek and I finally set our first sail. We went to Phuket where we enjoyed the sunshine so much!!

ee My Best friend since high school!!

The weather was perfect, so as the food and the people. We checked in a really nice resort in Patong area on the day of arrical. Then we walked around Pating, did a little shopping before we had our first meal. We tried the famous tigher prawn...yummy!!! ^ ^

The next day was sunny and we spent the whole day sunbathing and swimming. We were so tanned and I was sure no one's gonna to say that I am white when I am back!!! ><

We joined a local tour to the PP Island on the third day. The beach was so beautiful, there were groups of fish surrounded you when you swim...... What an experience!!!

But the happiest moment always past so fast!!! Now I am back to the concrete jungle, got to say goodbye to the paradise. But soon, I will be back, I will definitely be back!!

Salute to my friend again....^ ^

P.S. One more thing to add.....

q

Rafa beat Federer in an epic Wimbledon final 6-4,6-4,6-7,6-7,9-7.....^ ^(I watched the lice coverage in Thailand til 4am)

Congratulations to Rafa, being the first one to win back to back Grand Slams in Roland Garros and Wimbledon

since Borg did it in 1980!! I always knew that he must have done it someday, and this is the day!!

**Lots of inspiration from Rafa, and questions start to pop up: What's my next quest???

Dilemma~~

I've been big fan of Nadal for the past few years, and became a fan of Djokovic recently. The final of Queen's Club, which casted both players, turned out to be a thrilling match for me. It's hard for me to decide whom to support.....

And the result is.......

Rafael Nadal claimed his first career grass-court title, defeating Novak Djokovic 7-6 (5), 7-5 and became the first Spaniard to win on grass in 36 years.

I think Nadal deserved the win, he's on fire at the moment.....no matter his forehand, backhand or volley.....

he's on the right track, for sure!!

It was the French Open champion's third win in the last three tournaments over the second-seeded Djokovic, following semifinal victories in Hamburg and at Roland Garros.

This was really an amazing for Nadal.

The win should give Nadal a confidence boost ahead of Wimbledon, particularly after his resounding straight-sets win over No. 1 Roger Federer in the French Open final.

Rafael swept his fourth Roland Garros win over Roger Federer and recevied the trophy from tennis giant- Bjorn Borg ~ ~

Keep on the good work there, Rafa!!!

And come on Novak....you are almost there!!!

Days of Disaster

........Sign........

There are natural disasters sweep across the globe; Tornado in US, cyclone in Myamar and the shocking earthquake happened in China in 30 years.

Reading the news about the heartbreaking tragedy in China for the past week, my heart did strike. Uptil Friday, around 50,000 casualties are reported, over hundreds of thousands injured and still thousands are missing, they may still be somewhere under the collapsed building or have been hidden by the rubble. By watching the image fed from the hit area by our colleagues, I regret that why I 've never been to the Sichuan and  now I won't be able to see its original look.

"The city has is history!!! "

I think this time, the China government, or I should say Wen Jiabao,China's prime minister, really did a great job. In contrast with neighbouring Myanmar's lethargic and secretive handling of its cyclone ten days earlier, China responded to the earthquake rapidly and with uncharacteristic openness.

Of course, covering up was not an option. China measured the earthquake at a magnitude of 7.8; and sent the rescue team in an impressive speed. I think China's leaders are anxious to repair the public-relations damage they have suffered internationally as a result of the Tibet crisis. And they are keen to avoid the kind of criticism directed at Myanmar. This time, foreign reporters have been allowed into affected areas without hindrance by officials. China also welcomed foreign aid in the form of material and cash. Japan and Twaiwan are willing to help, and rescue teams have been sent to the hit areas.

In the mean time, Olympic torch relay still stick to its schedule, but China has already scaled down the route of the relay. I think maybe it's time for the chinese from all over the world to consolidate, not only to pray for  the unfortunates, but to show our power of unity to the globe.

P.S. I want to send my appreciation to the China Desk of my company for their hard work, especially Mr. Lam Kin Shing. He's really a hero and is so professional!!

" Salute Big Brother Shing!!!!"
